Rentals in Maharashtra

Maharashtra covers a huge range of rental markets. Mumbai and its wider region are the most expensive in the country, Pune is a major student and IT city, and Nagpur, Nashik, Aurangabad and Kolhapur run smaller markets tied to industry, education and trade.

Where people rent Mumbai renters spread from the island city to suburbs like Andheri, Chembur and the far northern and Navi Mumbai belts, plus Thane, chasing lower rents further out. Pune demand centres on Hinjawadi, Kharadi and Viman Nagar for IT, and areas near its many colleges for students. Nagpur, Nashik and the other cities are far cheaper and centred on their own industrial and college zones.

Typical rents Rents differ sharply across the state. In Mumbai a shared PG bed can run 7,000 to 15,000 a month and a 1BHK often 20,000 upward. Pune is more moderate, with PG beds around 5,000 to 9,000 and 1BHKs roughly 10,000 to 18,000. Nagpur, Nashik and similar cities are lower again, with 1BHKs commonly 6,000 to 12,000.

Who moves here Mumbai pulls in finance, media and service workers from everywhere. Pune runs on IT staff and a very large student population. The smaller cities draw factory workers, students and government employees.

Getting around Mumbai has extensive suburban rail plus a growing metro, and proximity to a station drives rents. Pune relies on buses, two-wheelers and a new metro. In the smaller cities buses and autos are the norm.
