Rentals in Pune

Pune combines one of India's largest student populations with a big IT and manufacturing base. It draws young renters from across the country for education and work, and it offers more moderate rents than Mumbai while staying well connected to it.

Where people rent The IT crowd looks toward Hinjawadi, Kharadi, Viman Nagar and Baner, close to the main tech parks. Students cluster near the colleges in areas like Kothrud, Karve Nagar, Viman Nagar and the university belt. Wakad, Balewadi and Wagholi are fast-growing residential areas. The old central city near the station is denser and more traditional.

Typical rents A shared PG bed usually runs about 5,000 to 9,000 a month, a single room or 1RK around 7,000 to 12,000, and a 1BHK roughly 10,000 to 18,000. Areas near the IT parks and newer suburbs sit at the higher end.

Who it suits IT and corporate professionals near the tech corridors, a very large student population near the colleges, and families in the newer western suburbs. Flat-sharing and PGs are common among young renters.

Getting around Pune has a growing metro alongside heavy bus service, two-wheelers and app cabs. Traffic can be heavy, so many renters choose an area close to their office or college. The metro is making some corridors much easier.
